71 Year Old Grandmother Wins 100,000 UK Pound Jackpot Prize
A storm of cheers erupted in the whole of Gala Bingo Club situated on Westfield Road, Westwood,Peterborough when their 71 year old member, who is frequent bingo player in the club, won the big jackpot, beating 750,000 others around the country, who are also hoping to win the huge money.
The 71 year old grandmother, who lives in Werrington, has not been named by Gala Bingo for security purposes, was in a state of shock after it was announce that she had won the prize. She was with her husband at that time.
It was a very good night for the lucky grandmother because she normally visits the Bingo Club during Sunday nights, but she was bored watching her television that Saturday so she went to Gala Bingo Club instead to pass time.
Though she wanted to keep the win a private matter, the grandmother, who takes care of her 19-month old great grandson while her mother works, and has two sons, a daughter and five grandchildren said that she needed a second shot of brandy when she got home that night because she cannot sleep that well. Her husband called everyone to tell them the good news.
Her friends at the club cheered when she won the jackpot, but she had a 20 minute nerve-wracking wait until the Gala Management confirmed that she was indeed, the country's jackpot winner of 100,000 UK Pounds, plus a bonus of the regional prize of 3,183 UK Pounds and the Gala Bingo club prize of 267 UK Pounds.
When asked on what she will do with her winnings, the bingo loving grandmother said that she must enjoy her winnings so she will do just that by buying new things for the house. The big win solidifies a report made by last year that Peterborough is a lucky city, the seventh most lucky one in Britain.
